Eliminate Credit Card Debt Quickly

There is an ever growing epidemic in America surrounding credit card debt. Some have gone so far as to say that this is considered a sickness. As with all sicknesses, the majority of people choose to ignore the problem and do not seek treatment until it is an overwhelming problem. The smarter and better solution is to take control of your credit card debt and start working to eliminate it before it weakens and potentially destroys your financial health and wellness.

There is a very simple, easy way to get rid of your credit card debt as fast as you can. You can do this at the absolutely lowest possible cost to yourself. The solution is simple and it is one that is quite frequently recommended by credit experts and specialist. This method of eliminating credit card debt is sometimes referred to as the Credit Crunch.

The first step in the rapid elimination of your credit card debt is to make a list of all of your credit cards. You will want to include the balance, interest rates, your minimum payment percentage, and your minimum payment as it pertains to your most recent statement. This percentage can be found in the fine print of your monthly credit card statement or your cardholder agreement. This percent is most often between two and 2 1/2 percent of the current balance on your card.

Next, you will rearrange this list so that you have your credit card with the highest interest rate at the top and the card that has the lowest rate at the bottom. This will give you a clear idea of where you can start making the most effective changes and will give you a focal point. It will also give you a starting place in your quest for freedom from credit card debt.

After you have made this list and have it in order, you will want to add up your required minimum payment on all of the cards. You will want to make sure that you include all of the cards that you have on your list. If you forget any, you will not get an accurate picture and you will not have a correct debt amount. This will lead you to not be able to effectively figure out what you need to pay and how to go about paying it off and eliminating it. From here, you need to figure out exactly how much money you will be able to come up with each month on top of the minimum payments that are due on all of your cards. This amount will be used towards your accumulated credit card debt. If you do not see a way to pay more money than the minimum, you need to sit down and do a budget so that you can find ways to eliminate your expenses. Every month, you need to pay the minimum balance on all of your cards except for your card that has the highest interest rate. With your card that has the highest interest rate, you are going to need to pay the minimum payment and also use the additional money that you have decided you can put towards your credit cards. This will start reducing your debt and lead you on the path to eliminating it completely.

You will continue to make these payments like this every single month until the credit card that has the highest interest rate is completely paid off in its entirety. Once you have done this, you will move on to the next card on the list. This will be a continuous cycle until you have eventually paid off all of your cards. Then, you are free of the debt and have completely eliminated it. You can remain free as long as you resist the urge to get more credit cards. Start paying for everything in cash.
